    Flumserberg Holiday Home,

    Description
Most holiday houses look the same, like conventional single-family homes. In their planning process, the site’s positive qualities, and specific character or topography are seldom taken into. Our design relates to this wonderful place, adjacent to an alpine field which is a meadow in the summer and a ski-run in the winter. The house rises vertically in order to capture 360 degrees of spectacular views. The alpine meadow around the building is left undisturbed, no fence or garden design alters the appearance of the place. On the exterior, the house variegates the omnipresent chalet theme with its dark wood cladding and small window openings creating the image of a chalet tower with huge panorama windows. As an antithesis to living in separate rooms we developed our design from the hypothesis of a single-room house. There are no separate rooms, but vertical and horizontal zones, each fulfilling several functions. The luxury of the house is not manifested in expensive detailing and materials, but in its location and spaces.
