An urban planning ensemble in Berlin-Neukölln
The winning project by EM2N envisages three new buildings with around 170 dwelling units on this elongated site on Buckower Damm. A six-storey building is to be erected at both the north and the south end, while on the middle plot a seven-storey building as well as a nursery and a new district centre will be built. The basic geometry of the compact volumes, which was developed from the themes of noise protection, exposure to sunlight, and the requisite distances apart, produces an accentuated rhythm, as the new residential blocks project slightly beyond the line of the existing rows of buildings and differ somewhat in height.
